Gift Guide for the Homebody

Gift Guide for the Homebody

I am continuing my mission to find the perfect Christmas gifts this season with my fourth round-up of the best Christmas gift ideas for 2018. This time we are shopping for the homebody, the stay at home girl. The friend that appreciates a good night in more than she loves a wild night out. The girl you’re more likely to find snuggled up than dressing up! The secret for her is to incorporate luxurious textures and fabrics and to invest in some beautiful and comfortable lounge wear options, or pieces for her home.

We have just enough time to squeeze in some more buying with 15 days until Christmas!!

Gift Guide for the Homebody - beautiful gift ideas for the stay at home girl

Silk Kimono | Silk Pillowcase | Seersucker Shorts | Jo Malone Christmas Tree Ornament | Reed Diffuser | Face Mask | Sweeter Cards Chocolate Bar | Bath Bomb | Velvet Hangers | Pom Blanket | Michael Kors Smart Watch | Nespresso Machine | Coffee Cups | Neom Scented Candle
Silk Kimono –

She likes to relax and be comfortable at home but there’s nothing to say that she can’t look good doing it. Lounge wear no longer means over-sized and unflattering, what about these gorgeous silk kimonos in soft pastel shades.

Seersucker Boxer Shorts –

These cute little ribboned boxer shorts would pair perfectly with a simple cami. They would also go really well with some snuggly socks, how about these or these?

Silk Pillowcase –

I’m going to keep featuring these in gift guides because I really believe that they are a great present. The kind of thing that she might not think to buy for herself, but very much appreciated when you introduce her to it. So comfortable and so much nicer on your skin and your hair. Once she tries it she won’t want to use anything else.

Reed Diffuser –

I love these reed diffusers so much and I think that they make a great gift, for Christmas or for a house-warming or even a simple hostess gift. They fill the room with just the right amount of fragrance and really last for weeks.

Jo Malone Ornament –

A little gift for her Christmas tree, these can be given ahead of Christmas. They look so pretty and then on Christmas Day can be opened to reveal the little Jo Malone treats inside.

Face Mask –

Such a sweet little stocking stuffer for those nights in – if I’m staying home I love the opportunity for a bit of a pamper. These Tony Moly masks have long been a bit of a favourite. This set even comes with hand cream in a cute Christmas cracker shaped gift box.

Bath Bomb –

I’m such a fan of Lush products – cruelty free and organic ingredients make up their gorgeous face, skin, hair and body products. Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas without some lovely bath treats – these festive bath bombs make an ideal stocking present. (Available on both the US and UK versions of the site.)

Sweeter Cards Chocolate –

Because those nights in with a face mask and comfy clothes are also calling out for a little sweet treat. I love the sound of the chocolate and sea salt caramel in these cute and seasonally themed chocolate bars.

Nespresso –

A little splurge present, it would be nice to treat her to something for the house, a little investment piece. I’m always so jealous when I go to my friend’s house for a coffee and she produces the perfect latte with her Nespresso. If your homebody doesn’t already have one, she’ll definitely appreciate being able to make great coffees in the comfort of her own home! This Nespresso machine by De’Longhi is the perfect fit for any kitchen and is a great all-in-one system with the milk frother included. It even made it onto Oprah’s Christmas List.

White and Gold coffee Cups –

To go with her beautiful white Nespresso machine, these chic and stylish gold and white coffee cups are the perfect match. They come in a chic box – perfect for gifting.

Pom Blanket –

Remember those luxurious textures we were talking about? What about this gorgeous blanket with faux fur poms. I have this exact throw and I pull it out every Christmas time. Nordstrom do them every year! It’s the softest and snuggliest blanket and I absolutely love it. I have a nasty habit of hogging it all to myself (sorry husband!). She will adore the super plush feel of the fabrics.

Velvet Hangers –

A bit of a random gift but so useful and surprisingly chic. I love these rose gold and pale pink velvet hangers for a practical yet stylish way to look after your clothes.

Michael Kors Smart Watch –

Smart watches have come a long way from the first square and androgynous styles. Michael Kors has produced a range of gorgeous smart watches and enables you to change up the face options so they suit any style. I’m a big fan of their regular watches so one of these is top of my list!

Neom Scented Candles –

Like the reed diffuser, I’m a big believer in scented candles which really help change up the feel of a room. Neom is famous for their luxurious candles with incredible relaxing scents like this Real Luxury candle.

Gift Guide for the Foodie

Gift Guide for the Foodie

Sooooo, writing these gift guides has been incredibly bad for my bank balance… And I can’t seem to stop treating myself to all these little gifts… But, in the interests of research, I am selflessly continuing my quest! We still have 36 days before Christmas, so plenty of time to pick up some more little treats for the ones that you love.

Up now is my Gift Guide for the Foodie. You can catch my Travelling Girl and Beauty Addict Gift Guides here and here, if you missed them.

Gift Guide for the Foodie - Beautiful Christmas gift ideas for the foodie in your life!

Hibiscus Flowers in Syrup –

I’ve featured these before in previous cocktail posts because I really love how much these little beauties can elevate a simple gin and tonic or glass of prosecco. They make a fantastic stocking stuffer (my mum first introduced them to me at Christmas last year) and deserve a spot on everyone’s bar cart!

Burleigh Pink Gin –

A limited edition bottling of Burleigh’s London Dry Gin, this beautiful pink bottle contains their classic recipe with the addition of hibiscus (perfectly pairs with those hibiscus flowers we were just talking about), Japanese cherry blossom, pink grapefruit and rose flowers. Snap up a bottle before they go – only 600 bottles were produced. (BVI Friends: Save yourself the shipping costs and pick up a bottle of BVI Gin! Sadly not yet available for international shipping)

Mandolin –

I have wanted a decent mandolin for the longest time. Make all those slicing and dicing chores effortless with this one from Oxo. But, for the love of your fingers, please don’t forget to invest in a protective glove.

Pestle and Mortar –

Can you even call yourself a ‘real’ foodie if you don’t own a pestle and mortar? Our wooden one gets a fair amount of use, but I would love a hefty stone number like this one from Chef Sofi. Great for grinding your own seasonings, classic curry pastes (Red Thai curry is a personal favourite) or whipping up creative marinades with garlic and fresh herbs.

Copper Measuring Cups –

If you know me then you’ll know that these feature on her because they are copper-coloured. But I refuse to apologize for it. Why can’t kitchen implements be pretty? This is a useful little stocking stuffer, as pretty as it is practical.

Herb Planter –

Despite the fact that I seem to have whatever the opposite of a ‘green thumb’ is (a ‘black thumb’ maybe? What a horrible thought…) I still love the idea of growing my own herbs to cook with. The ones that I use most frequently anyway – coriander (cilantro for my lovely American readers), mint, basil etc.

Could this aquaphoric hydroponic herb planter be the answer to my problems? It automatically waters my thirsty herbs and then lets me know when it is time to top up!

Wine Advent Calendar –

Like the beauty ones I suggested in my previous gift guide – you can treat your little foodie (or in this case your oenophile) to a present that keeps giving all the way through December. This Wine Advent Calendar features 24 wines, with a great variety of whites, reds, sparkling and rose options, and even a port. Just try not to drink them all at once! I also found this one (for my UK readers) if you fancied some cheese to go with your wine…

Set of knives with Sharpening Knife block –

Every gift guide features one splurge item and this is it for the foodie. Relatively inexpensive as kitchen knives go – this 15-piece set of knives is a key addition to any home chef’s collection. Enhanced by the self-sharpening knife block, your passionate chef will never struggle with dull blades again.

Paella Kit –

Featuring only products made in Spain, this Paella kit which includes both the pan and a paella cookbook is a sweet gift for anyone keen on the Spanish classic. Beautifully packaged in a custom gift box it is sure to be appreciated by your lucky foodie recipient.

Blue Mountain Coffee –

Arguably some of the best coffee in the world. Renowned for being smooth and full-bodied while remarkably free of bitterness. The Foodie in your life will thank you for these beans when it comes time to caffeinate in the morning! Why not further enhance this present with this gorgeous copper cafetière from Bodum and the matching storage canister to keep these premium beans from going stale.

Restaurant Log Book –

Like many foodies, one of my favourite past times is eating out. I love trying new restaurants, food trucks, pop-ups, food events etc. Finally someone has created the perfect journal for recording all these culinary adventures. A place to make notes, keep business cards, rate your experience, favourite dishes etc.

Kitchen Confidential, Anthony Bourdain –

The foodie and travel worlds mourned together the loss of Anthony Bourdain earlier this year. Keep those flames of inspiration ignited with one of his best-selling classics, now recently updated; ‘Kitchen Confidential’. Spilling secrets with wild-but-true tales of his life and experiences in  the culinary world.

Seasoning salts –

Up their seasoning game with these seriously fancy finishing salts. Six luxurious flavours including saffron salt and truffle salt take every dish to the next level. I like to use the porcini mushroom salt on my risotto and the truffle salt on my popcorn, but the possibilities are endless.

Try the World Subscription Box –

I think I’ve left the best until last. If your foodie is anything like me, chances are one of his/her favourite things to do is sample new and exciting tastes and flavours and this is exactly what Try the World offers. From $19 per month for their Snack Box subscription or $39 per month for the Countries subscription. Immerse yourself in the culture and flavours of a different country every month and try a selection of products hand-picked by chefs from that region.

I really hope that you found some suggestions on here that you think your foodie friend will love! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Gift Guide for the Beauty Addict

Gift Guide for the Beauty Addict

Whee, I’m back with another fun gift guide!! And I tell you, it’s a good job I’m so prepared with these gift guides because some of these treats are limited edition and time sensitive!

Who said that Christmas presents have to come on the 25th? What about an amazing Advent Calendar that will keep her thinking of you all throughout December?

Did I mention how much I’ve been loving shopping for this Gift Guide series? Now just to sit on my credit card and stop myself from buying them all for me!!

In case you missed the previous guide, you can check out my Travelling Girl Gift Guide here.

Gift Guide for the Beauty Addict - Christmas treats for the Beauty Junkie in your life

Advent Calendar | Face Mask | Lip Set | Highlight Palette | Nail Varnish | Nail Varnish | Brush Set | Fenty Powder | Hair Dryer | Perfume Powder | FOREO Cleansing Brush | Rose Quartz Roller | Perfume | Apothecary Jars | Spa Head Bands
Charlotte Tilbury Advent Calendar

Quite the luxury gift, but one that is certain to get her very excited. With twelve doors containing a mixture of full-sized and mini CT favourites inside a stunning set of galaxy themed glittered drawers. This is a seriously decadent gift. The trend for beauty advent calendars has exploded the last couple of years with many beauty, skincare and scent brands all bringing out their best for the festive season. I couldn’t even pick just one – see a few more of my favourites from ASOS, Mac and Liberty here, here and here.

Rodial Pink Diamond Sheet Mask

There’s something really pampering and indulgent about a great sheet mask. Even better if you get together with the girls and enjoy as part of a girls night in. I recently invested in one of the Rodial Pink Diamond sheet masks and absolutely loved it. Unlike traditional sheet masks that can slide around and leave you looking, well, a little bit weird. This ultra light transparent firming mask clings to your face and barely looks like you are wearing one (no scaring the pizza delivery guy when he comes to the door!). At $12 for one, this is a generous little stocking stuffer.

Fresh Sugar Rush Set

During Mistletoe season she’ll want to ensure that her lips are in tip top condition and perfectly kissable. Fresh has been one of my favourite brands for lip balm for a while now and this little set including their balm and a scrub will keep chapped lips at bay.

Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Palette

If (and that’s a big if) she hasn’t purchased this already for herself, she will certainly appreciate this cult highlighter palette appearing under her Christmas tree. A highlight palette that gets all the beauty girls excited

OPI Nail Envy

Because who doesn’t want long and strong nails? Unfortunately, years of shellac manicures and a nasty habit of picking at them has left my nails a little weakened and prone to breaking. OPI Nail Envy is pure magic when it comes to growing your nails long naturally. Maybe give it as an early gift so that she can get her nails looking perfect for the party season. A bottle of OPI Nail Envy along with a pretty colour polish and an emery board would make a really simple gift that fits almost any budget.

Glitter O’Clock Brush Set

Nothing screams festive like this cute glitter and gold brush set from Sephora. The multi-colour sparkle immediately puts me in the Christmas party spirit and it got great reviews online.

FOREO Luna Play

Before you go in with that sheet mask – you’re going to need to ensure that your face is squeaky clean! I received my FOREO Luna in my Summer FabFitFun box and it has become a staple part of my routine ever since. I was never a massive fan of the brush-head cleansing devices as I found the bristles a little irritating on my quite sensitive skin. The FOREO is so gentle, while still being super effective – it leaves my skin glowy, soft and perfectly clean.

Fenty Mini Fairy Bomb

Is it a Christmas ornament? Yes and no, it’s the Fenty Mini Fairy Bomb, and we’d love to cover our tree with these guys! A little ball of glitter puff highlight for that extra bit of festive sparkle during the Christmas period. Glimmering iridescent pink shimmer with a vanilla-coconut scent. What’s not to love?

Blown-Ouai (Dyson Hairdryer + Ouai hair products) –

A gorgeous limited edition set put together by Sephora brings together the lusted after Dyson hairdryer with a set of Ouai hair products. The set cost the same as the hairdryer by itself, making all those gorgeous hair products basically free!

Cartier La Panthère Powder de Parfum Etincelante

I’m just all about the sparkle over Christmas – it’s the time of year that you can go all out. This luxurious Cartier scented highlight powder finishes your look perfectly. Designed to be layered over the Cartier La Panthère Eau de Parfum.

Rose Quartz Roller

A part of Chinese beauty rituals for centuries, jade and rose quartz rollers are said to help blood circulation, skin tone, elasticity of the skin and lymphatic drainage. Also known to help reduce puffiness, wrinkles, dark under eye circles and eliminate toxins. I have a couple of these on my Amazon wishlist and an inkling that one might be arriving in my Winter FabFitFun box, which I can’t wait to try out! Keep in the fridge for a cooling and refreshing treat for your skin.

Aerin Amber Musk

Perfume is a pretty personal gift, but if you are confident that you know what she likes it can be a really thoughtful purchase. I always wear the same scent, but with some beautiful options on the market, I still enjoy checking others out. This Aerin Amber Musk smells like a good choice for Autumn/Winter weather.

Apothecary Storage Jars

If your beauty addict is anything like me, her bathroom shelves and dressing table are likely overflowing with product. These cute glass jars are a super chic and affordable storage solution. I have this same set in my bathroom and they keep my Q-tips, cotton balls and cotton pads dry and free of dust and dirt.

Spa Head Band

When prepping and pampering your skin, what about these terry-cloth spa facial headbands? Such a useful little stocking stuffer. A simple Velcro design means that they hold all your hair (even the baby fine hairs) back away from your face. Keeping your hair dry and free-from whatever products you are putting on your skin. A must have, practical gift for any beauty girl!

So those are my beauty suggestions!! Which of those do you think you’d most love to receive?

I must remember to order my own advent calendar – which one should I pick??

My Gift Guide for the Foodie will be up next – suitable for both guys and girls. I will be showcasing some really delicious gifts!

Gift Guide for the Travelling Girl

Gift Guide for the Travelling Girl

These will be interspersed with the usual sunny Caribbean content. We will cover a whole range of price points with some save and some splurge items – I got you ladies, feel free to leave this browser open for your boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, room mate, friends or parents as a not so subtle hint…

So, first up to bat are my travelling girls and I LOVED shopping for this one (who am I kidding? :: Kate Spade Packing Bags –

You guys know that I am obsessed with organization when it comes to packing. I am all about the packing bags and the packing cubes and believe that they are fundamental in efficient packing and easy travelling. The travelling girl in your life will love these chic and simple black and cream ones from Kate Spade.

:: Retro Silver Spinner Case –

Good luggage is essential for fun travel – nothing worse than a busted wheel or a broken lock when you are miles away from home. These gorgeous retro cases look as sturdy as they do stylish and are definitely on my wish list! (Comes in six different colours too!)

:: Facial Spray –

Long haul travel can be tough on your skin – I’ve been loving these facial sprays from Mario Badescu which really help to revive and refresh your skin when it’s feeling dry after all that time in the air-con. Just a little gift to show her that you care, which will surely be appreciated!

:: Clarity Clutch –

Because those little ziplock bags at the airport are a horrible use of single-use plastic and these beautiful leather-trimmed TSA compliant clear clutch bags are a much chicer alternative. Keep your jewelry and your liquids safe with these Clarity Clutches from Truffle.

:: Tech Envelope –

More stylish storage with this Tech Envelope from Mark & Graham to keep all your cables and devices safe and organized. I have been using my blush leather Tech Envelope for years, but I have my eye on this white and tan option now… These can also be monogrammed for that extra personal touch.

:: Travel Journal –

Every travelling girl needs a journal to record her adventures. I’ve given you two gorgeous options at very different price points. A colorful and practical Erin Condren planner (with packing lists and space for your itinerary details), or a luxe leather journal from Mark & Graham (with illustrated maps). Either would make a glorious gift for the girl in your life with itchy feet.

:: Noise Cancelling Headphones –

The biggest splurge gift on my list – she’ll definitely be travelling in comfort with these gorgeous noise-cancelling headphones from Bose. Truly the mark of a serious traveller, you need these in your life once you start racking up the air miles (hint, hint husband).

:: Leather Luggage Tags –

What’s the point of having that gorgeous new suitcase if it’s just going to get lost. Put your contact details on these luscious leather tags so that everyone knows who that lovely luggage belongs to. They’re tan, to match the suitcase – you’re welcome!

:: LatandLo Cuff Bracelet –

Another cheeky splurge, these latitude and longitude bracelets come in 6 different metal options, ranging from $89 – $1,050 depending on whether you choose gold-filled or solid gold. I love the gold-filled finish. Pick a location that your travelling girl would love – will she want a reminder of home or your favourite travel adventure location?

How better to pique her travel interest and get her excited about all the adventures than the Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel Guide. 500 of the best destinations around the globe, ranked in this incredible book full of beautiful photographs. Describing itself as the ‘definitive wish list of the best places to visit on earth’ this stunning coffee table book is sure to inspire her travel dreams.

:: Carry-on Cocktail –

The perfect little gift to make her smile – these carry-on cocktail kits are TSA compliant and come in various classic cocktail options. I’ve picked the champagne cocktail but whether your travelling girl likes a Mary or drinks a Mule, there’s something for everyone. (BVI friends – these have been spotted at House BVI).

:: Baggage Tag Charm Necklace –

I love these simple travel charms and, with 340 different locations from around the World to choose from, there is bound to be one with significance for your travelling girl. They even have one for teeny, tiny Virgin Gorda airport which is mere footsteps from my house. What an adorable little keepsake of her favourite journeys and adventures.

:: Scratch Map

The ultimate reminder of all those globe-trotting travels is surely the Scratch Map – a beautifully simple concept and a wonderfully visual way to record and remember your travel experiences. They come in a couple of different colour options but I love this simple gold and white colour way which would sit tastefully in any home.

:: Mini Cross-body Bag –

A cross-body bag is the ideal handbag when you’re on the go – hands-free but nice and close to you. This buttery-soft leather cross-body is made by the Cambridge Satchel Company – one of my favourite British brands for a well-made bag (I already have their convertible Cloud Bag in red). Just big enough for your phone, passport, room key and some cash, the Mini Tassel Bag makes a lovely travel companion that will also slide easily into your carry-on or beach bag.

So there we have it – just a few suggestions for some tempting treats. Do you have anyone to buy for that would appreciate a couple of these pressie ideas? I’m certainly hoping to find a couple under my Christmas tree!

Need even more inspiration? Find my travel essentials post here, which features all of my favourite travelling accessories – many of which would also make for gorgeous gifts!

Stay tuned for the rest of the gift guides which will be coming soon!
