In the space of just a few short weeks four new spots have opened up, right in the heart of Road Town. This sudden resurgence on Waterfront Drive has seen three popular businesses re-opening or expanding, and a fourth open a brand new location.
These re-openings have seen the doors open for Capriccio di Mare, Bamboushay and Dragonfly (the upstairs bar at the Dove). And they have been joined by Sweet n’ Savoury Bakery.
All this activity has really helped inject some life back into the middle of town in an area so desperately needed by visitors on the ferry, cruise ship tourists and to all of us going through town on a regular basis. Suddenly we have new lunch options, breakfast spots, and more places for happy hour drinks.
Capriccio’s –
Still serving their same classic menu but in their newly refurbished venue, Capriccio di Mare is proving to be a popular lunch spot, handy for take-out too. Pretty grey tiles on the floor, a splash of teal, a seating area out front and a whole new kitchen layout are just some of the changes that they have made, while holding on to a lot of the items that made them a hit in the first place.

Bamboushay –
With a brand new boat-shaped bar which has been pulled all the way up to the pavement, Bamboushay has completely switched up the layout and look. Under new management and still working on food options, for now it’s just drinks served roadside. Still a great place to wile away some time with chatty and friendly bartenders and cocktails. Looks popular for happy hour.

Dragonfly Lounge at the Dove Restaurant –
The Dove restaurant has opened the upstairs section (The Dragonfly Lounge) which is now serving their lunch and bar snacks menu, along with craft cocktails. Beautifully decorated with it’s gilded ceiling and speakeasy feel, it has direct sight of the ferry dock which makes it ideal for commuters (like me) or anyone hopping over to St. Thomas or VG. Sweet n’ Savoury Bakery –
As if by magic, a couple of weeks ago, Sweet n’ Savoury Bakery suddenly appeared in their new Road Town location. Situated behind Island Roots and accessible via a little bridge in the parking lot by the traffic lights (or at least where they used to be…) the bakery is a little oasis hidden away in town. A shady courtyard with big, bright sun umbrellas and bougainvillea bushes, they serve up breakfast dishes and limited lunch specials from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm. I also highly recommend their sweet treats and baked goods – the chocolate chip cookies are fab!
