I haven’t been very good at making time for myself recently. But, last weekend, as I lay face down on the massage table inhaling the sweet smell of rosemary and bergamot with strong fingers kneading the knots in my shoulders and my tensions melting away. I was reminded of just how valuable a little ‘me time’ can be.
I’m guilty of burning the candle at both ends. Of not resting my injuries properly. And of forgetting how restorative a damn good pampering session can be! Luckily all this was swiftly rectified with a visit to Leesa Jones at Spa and Sparkle.
Perched up on the hill above Nail Bay – Leesa has the perfect little treatment room and it’s close proximity to Sugarcane Restaurant (a 2 minute walk) make it an ideal option for a girl’s day. (More on that later).
My morning appointment at Spa and Sparkle
I arrived and started with a lemon water while we quickly went through the health and wellness questionnaire. Checking off any pre existing conditions and injuries. We moved on to choosing my soundtrack for the session – for a totally multi-sensory experience. I opted for the sound bath during my treatments. Koshi chimes and crystal singing bowls carefully tuned to a therapeutic vibration; reducing my stress, balancing my chakras and healing from the inside. A really unique addition.
Next I selected the aromatherapy oil for my treatment. Leesa offers a choice of five Sensory Retreats Well-being Oils and invites you to sample each one. Depending on your mood and specific needs, you choose the scent you are most drawn to; Nourish, Restore, Invigorate, Revive or Empower. Each oil blend benefits from its own unique properties so whether your intention is to bring mental clarity, or uplift your spirits, they have the perfect blend. I chose Invigorate and enjoyed an uplifting rosemary, bergamot and eucalyptus combination.
Then it was time to start the treatments. My 90 minutes of total pampering started with a full body massage using hot lava shells to penetrate heat into areas where the muscles are stressed. Literally melting away tension and aiding relaxation. I then finished with an Image O2 lift facial. Thanks to the facial my skin has never felt better – Spa and Sparkle’s luxurious facial uses Image products and infuses oxygen, plant derived stem cells, peptides and a high concentration of enzymatic botanicals into the skin leaving it luminous, refreshed and rejuvenated.
As I was almost falling asleep on the table, my treatments were brought to an end with the sound of a Tibetan Bowl. Then it was time for a glass of lemon water and a YANA collagen shot. Helping to improve my skin elasticity and hydration from the inside!
I left the treatment room, thoroughly relaxed and in a dreamlike trance, and it was time for my friend’s turn. I headed down to Sugarcane restaurant to get us a table and pre-order our lunches. The spa is so close to the restaurant and pool, so it’s perfect for a girls day. Book with a couple of friends and then take it in turns to go up for your treatments as the others enjoy a drink poolside!
